Marin is and undersized athletic prospect out of NYC. But do not less his size fool you, he his a hell of a player. The kid has a great overall game. We love the glove, the arm, and the potential with the bat. Below is the breakdown of his tools:

  • Hit Tool: The swing is inconsistent but when he gets into one, the ball really jumps off. He got a slight uppercut and has great bat speed through he zone. At times, he gets too long with the stroke. Needs to work on repeating mechanics. He does a great job of using the whole field.
  • Power Tool: Currently we feel he has solid gap power. With the swing, he has a good lift for power. Effort can get violet but we love it! Just needs consistently. With a few years of development and growth in his body, this tool could really go on the rise.
  • Arm Tool: He has an outstanding arm and one that can keep him at SS in College. Has a quick release and can throw from all angles. Throws are accurate and have on-line carry.
  • Defensive Tool: Luis graded very well in this department! Outstanding defensive prospect as he has good actions, has great feet, and reads the ball well off the bat. He will rarely get beat which makes him a sure handed SS. Glove open and ready, but also has great glove instincts. Shows good range defensively.
  • Run Tool: Above average runner and is a graceful funner. Will never clog bases and may actually surprise you with the amount of SB he may get.
  • Player Grade: 7.88

Luis is ahead of the curve already. We feel with development and maturity, the bat will really come around. He will have more power, but needs to get consistent with the bat mechanics Defensively, he could stay at SS, but his body says otherwise.  A permanent move to 3B seem likely as he gets older, plus the added power he will obtain. Some program needs to jump on the phone and get this kid down to their camp!
