RHP DJ Filippone – Connetquot HS (’26)

This NEW Series is going to showcase uncommitted prospects. We want to bring as much attention to each player as possible. We may see a player in a game, showcase, or video and they “intrigue us” with their abilities. So we provide a write up on these players. You never know who is watching fellas!

RHP DJ Filippone – Connetquot HS (’26)

6’2” & 165 LB

Right/Right

Travel Team: Team Steel

DJ has a very projectable frame, standing at 6’2″ 165 LB he has room to fill out. He goes  from the H3/4 to 3/4 at times. Arm action is slightly stiff. Has excellent arm speed, slows down the arm for the CB. Sound delivery, but has some effort, maintains balance well and gets himself in a great fielding position on follow through. Has fair rthym, level shoulders, normal stride, and lands soundly.  Below is the breakdown of his pitches:

  • Control: He is above average is this area, he throws strikes often and if he misses he’s right around the plate with all of his pitches.
  • Fastball: Kid has a strong arm, you can see that in his FB as he gets it up to 86 MPH and lives 84-86 MPH. He has the strength to generate velo, and velo will only climb. Would like to see him work it inside more on RHH.
  • Changeup: This is his best pitch in our eyes, long term. Maintains good arm speed, hard average depth. He can throw for strikes and great out pitch. Has above average command of this pitch. Has good fade and makes the FB look better. If he can develop this pitch more, look out for him to do some damage.
  • Curveball: Needs to figure this pitch out, has an average grade on it for us. Arm speed is fair and struggles to throw for strikes. Need to see more of this pitch from him. Has average command. CB lacks bite, but has good velo.
  • Player Grade: 7.0

The velo on the FB will help him stand out, if he showcases the CH more and develops the CB. He will be a solid prospect at the next level in college. We have him as a relief role to start out, if he develops the secondary stuff, back end of the rotation type of guy.
