This NEW Series is going to showcase uncommitted prospects. We want to bring as much attention to each player as possible. We may see a player in a game, showcase, or video and they “intrigue us” with their abilities. So we provide a write up on these players. You never know who is watching fellas!
RHP Elijah Batista – Cardinal Hayes HS (’26)
6’2″ | 177 LB
Right/Right
Travel Team: Los Magos
Batista is a raw hard throwing righty with a projectable frame. He needs to clean up the delivery and develop his secondary pitch (slider). Below is the breakdown of his tools:
- The Arm: OH Release with good arm speed. Violent delivery. Right now currently only posses arm strength. He tends to get out front.
- Mechanics: Overall they are fair, needs to clean up. Erratic rhythm, drops back shoulder pitches slightly uphill. Stiff front leg on landing with a hard finish.
-
Miscellaneous: Lacks feel for off speed pitch, stuff does give player a chance. Will reach back for extra MPH, not afraid to go inside, and strong arm.
- Fastball: Gets up to 88 MPH, range is 86-88 MPH. Has some arm side ride that he spots up well on RHH to make their lives difficult as it bores in. Average command at best.
- Slider: Has a chance with this pitch once he throws it with consistency. Good sharp shape when thrown well. Out pitch and throws out of the zone. We have seen enough of this pitch from him to know it is projectable. Below average command.
- Player Grade: 6.2
He will start in the bullpen at the next level as his control is erratic and the need to develop the slider. He has the arm strength, just needs to figure out the rest.
