Ethan is an undersized soft bodied player. This kid just needs time to mature and figure things out. When you look at him, you just know he has the power in him. He has average to plus power currently, and above average bat speed. He just needs to refine his mechanics to consistently hit for power. We would love to see him work on utilizing that backside and driving that back leg. When he does connect, the ball flies off the bat. For the Hit tool, he has a compact stroke, but needs to get consistency with his load. He tends to lunge slightly on his swing. Needs to improve the body control but of these are all correctable. The Arm tool is average and has to keep the arm up when throwing, he tends to drop the elbow. Hehas an accurate arm. Defensively, he has soft hands and shows good actions out there. He has good range as well! We see Ethan moving over to 1B down the road. If he can fix those mechanics, he could be a steal for the right college program.
